The zebra stripe article is arguing against an outdated form of the camouflage argument: as I understand it, the point isn't whether a lion can see a zebra in the trees, but "the stripes make it harder to pick out one zebra from the rest when the herd is moving, so the predator can't focus on one animal and run it to exhaustion."
