"Oh, no! I'm still wearing my cat ears! Now everybody will think I'm weird!"

Me: No, they won't. This is a normal thing for ten year olds to do.
Eva: Yeah, inside the HOUSE! When I'm cosplaying!
Me: Now, saying cosplaying may not be that normal for ten year olds. I think the more usual term might be "dressing up".
Eva: No, that's just the baby word. The real word is cosplay.

She was dead serious about the last part, too.

When my daughter was 13, she was wearing her first real sword at the Renaissance Faire, but when she was climbing over a bridge, it started to slip from its scabbard, and she caught it by the blade. So, we had to go to the ER - she, her 'sister, and me - where, fortunately, they only super-glued the cut closed instead of her having stitches. I didn't realize till we were on the way home that we all still had our latex Elf ears on. LOL, oh well!
