And then possibly eat her, or else go out for McDonald's. Could go either way.

She wants to use July to do a new, much more comprehensive elimination diet with Ana. Ana wants to use July to try going vegetarian. I want to know in what world I can make a month's worth of meals - breakfast, lunch, AND dinner! - that doesn't use eggs, meat, dairy, wheat, citrus, tomatoes, potatoes, or peppers AND that doesn't repeat a meal twice in a week (because nobody wants to eat the same thing that often, and also because it is better to eat a variety of foods) AND that the kids will want to eat.

She swears this doesn't unreasonably crimp my style. I swear that she is clearly drunk with power. Or perhaps just drunk, I don't know.

I'm going to make HER write the menu. I think soy and dried fruits are out as well.

Why on earth do both dietary experiments need to be in August?

I mean, why on earth do they both need to be in July? Wouldn't it be much easier to do one in July and the other in August?

Are you thinking of the elimination diet as a permanent thing? It's usually temporary, the starting point of an experiment--after 3-4 weeks to establish a baseline (or see if eliminating foods helped at all), you start re-introducing the foods that were eliminated. Do you really need to avoid repeating meals within a week? For just one month, would your family be ok with a 5 day cycle instead of 7?

Mm, if it's a migraine elimination diet I'd be really surprised if soy was allowed.

Awell, it may turn out to be helpful later. Hang in there - I hear you about the pollen; it has been super-allergenic here too this Spring.

I agree with you - she should plan up those menus if these are her new impositions. I can see the appeal in an elimination diet but it is not easy and if you add vegetarian innovation on top of everything else, it's positively cruel!

Yes, the very last straw is a good metaphor. It's tough enough being in charge of the family food prep/menu/budget but when you start adding changes like these two on top of everything else, it would be enough to make me sit down and cry (or pull out my own hair).

Good luck!
