and so I missed some important news and before I say anything I'd like to share a link: This way for adorable baby animals!

And now, while you're all distracted by the cute, I'm going to scream incoherently for a little bit.

WHAT THE FUCK IS HAPPENING WITH THIS COUNTRY NOWADAYS?

mumbleteymumblevague years since my last cleaning, and it was so bad my dentist was working in sections, after numbing my gums a prodigious amount. (Judging from his comments it does seem like I might need more numbing than other people. I'm putting it on my list of weird things to sooner or later ask a doctor about.)

I'm pleased to report that today I was able to get a normal teeth cleaning, no numbing and all my teeth were done at once, hurrah.

Also, we scheduled everybody's appointment for the same day, so it was only our family in the waiting room, so go me.

often show tunes mixed in with Disney songs - which are, of course, show tunes but G-rated and animated.

Anyway, for this reason I'm currently watching Frozen for the very first time ever. I've seen clips of the Let It Go song before, but that's it. (I've also read all possible synopses and can't be much spoiled.)

Two things spring to mind regarding their musical choices:

1. The music sounds much more modern than I expect from Disney and, in particular, Disney princesses. Can't quite put my finger on it, but something about what they do with the melodies.

2. According to TvTropes you might not know Kristoff is supposed to be Sami unless you read the supplemental material, but I'm not sure how that's possible. His intro song sounds very Movie Native American, and since this isn't set in the Americas that leaves us with few viable options. I'm a little concerned about the fact that I correctly interpreted this musical cue. I mean, it's gotta be racist in some way. But, happily, I didn't choose it so I'll just blame Disney for this one. Edit: In this particular case their intro music apparently is realistically based on actual Sami music, so I'll retract my worries. Disney has a past history, though, so it's reasonable for me to be a little concerned in general.

2a. Also he's got a reindeer? I mean, what are we supposed to think, that he just randomly has a pet reindeer?

2b. FYI, that's another population gravely affected by residential schooling with an eye towards cultural genocide.

The trouble is, our editions have too-small print. It's hard for her to read books with such small print and margins.

We also have them on Kindle, but... footnotes.

Are there better editions out there? More readable for her?
