You think you've covered everything
Mar. 21st, 2013 09:55 amBut apparently I failed to explain to Ana how to read a ruler. She identifies half an inch, that's good. And a quarter of an inch. And an eighth of an inch, which isn't necessary for her vacation packet. But ask her to find 3/4 of an inch and she's totally baffled! I don't get it!
But we clear that up, and then find that she's absent mindedly putting down the quarter inches without the the whole number necessary. Apparently, she sees no difference between 2 1/2 and just 1/2. But then, she also can't put down an answer if it is less than a whole inch. Well, I mean, she can NOW, but she couldn't.
She's still coming in ahead of Eva, who cried for 20 minutes at the thought of doing a page of subtraction problems, cried at the thought of not finishing her packet in one day, and refused to answer any "guess from context" question on the grounds that they had never explicitly told her the meaning of x word, despite the fact that that's the whole point!
God, I hate vacation homework, but as soon as its done it is DONE. Huh, it may be the first time we ever get it in on time either.
