This late in the game, that'd be admitting that God does not sanction this election.

Unless he does. Or doesn't exist. Or whatever. But any god who'd sanction Bush as president is not the god for me.

In prayer, they aren't saying "our religion is the only acceptable one." They're saying, "This is what I believe, and I choose to excercise it publicly." Not such an unusual thing.

Would that I believed that. Let's look at why I think Bush and his ilk aren't saying the latter... Read more... )

I really have no faith in shrubboy and his ilk, not when it comes to the ability to keep their religion separate from their politics or their lawmaking, and this prayer is just the latest indication of that.

1. I like friendly arguments. I'm trying to keep to only having these on my journal, instead of elsewhere, but here - yeah, it's my journal. Beforehand, I don't know if this is something you're sensitive about or not, so I'm asking you, if you want to talk about a sensitive issue with me, tell me that it's important to you first.

2. Most of the links I post here are things I care about, sure, but I am very apathic. Don't confuse my caring about something with actually, y'know, caring about something.

...some idiot pressed the big red button you're not supposed to press.

And I think this has happened before. They really need to guard that big red button you're not supposed to press a little better - maybe have alarms go off if it's pressed or something.

Ooh!

She mentioned somebody I couldn't remember ever hearing about. This is apparently because he died. Of cancer. Just like everybody else in the family (except those who had cancer and didn't die). According to mommy, this just started happening after Chernobyl.

If I'm reading this map correctly, Chernobyl is over 1200 miles away from Belgium. This is how far the effects went? Scary, no?
