When the weather is relatively nice, the radiator works. Okay, this is good, it's nice to have heat. Now that it's 10F out there, my radiator stops working. And almost every one in the house, but *not* the one in the living room, so I know we have oil.

I am not happy.

Six Apart was bad enough, but Yahoo? Wha...?

Edit: [livejournal.com profile] readerravenclaw (hope I got her name right) is now saying that the article is just speculating on the possibility that this might happen. Now that I've calmed down and re-read the article... I think she's likely right. Oops. I can read fast, but do I comprehend what I read? Apparently not. Let's have fun with doomsday predictions anyway, though.

Horrors.

Sulzberger declines to take a side in this debate, but sounds as if he is leaning toward a pay site. "It gets to the issue of how comfortable are we training a generation of readers to get quality information for free," he says. "That is troubling."

There's a reason my father was a communist*. I'm not sure this is the reason, but it's a good line.

*Actually, I believe he may have thought most communists weren't radical enough, but that's a story for another lifetime.

And I come across this nifty little article on permanent detention of people at Guantanamo.

I know I remember posting about this before, but that was a while ago... Hm... *runs to google*

I'm seeing a lot of stuff about this, lots of editorials - not so much mainstream media. I know it's been published in mainstream media, but why isn't there more coverage?

I sat my mom down and made her explain how everyone in the family (her mom's family) is related. She drew a chart and everything.

Makes me feel a bit lonely, though. They're all connected to each other, and we're the only ones cut off from this since we're out of the country. I wanna go visit soon. I mean, I actually want to go visit. We used to when we were little, but we haven't since before my dad died.

Here.

And, of course, Snopes' take on the thing.

Soon, I won't ever have to see that damn chain letter again. Yay.
