WAY too loud. I had to leave three-four times, taking the baby as my excuse. *shudders*

But it's worth it for those deserts. I got an apple cheesecake, and Jenn got their hot brownies with whipped cream. And I tasted hers first, and as soon as I did I was going "Oh, I picked the wrong thing, I should've had this brownie, NOTHING is better than this brownie..."

And then I had the cheesecake.

*drools thinking about it*

It was heaven. Really. Heaven would not be heaven without this cheesecake. Oh god, I need the recipe. I could live off of this, and die happy (if unhealthily early).

I mean... remember the Simpsons episode where Homer's at the Quickimart, and he sees the winning scratch-off lotto ticket? But Apu says he can buy EITHER the ticket OR the twinkie... so he chose the twinkie?

That's me, but with a lot less thought and jumping around in agony.

That cheesecake is GOOD.

Disabling comments because you're scared of discussion. That's rude.

Deleting another person's post because YOU think that THEY do not like the way conversation is going even though THEY have not said anything of the sort... I don't even understand this. Let THEM delete THEIR own post... or admit that YOU are the one with a problem.

That is all.

Edit:

*giggles* I was pissed at something that happened in a comm I'm in. I'm not pissed anymore (yay) although I stand by the less inflammatory form of my statements (which runs "I disagree with...."). I really don't hold these statements for personal journals, just communities. So my view is "if you don't like comments on a post in your community, you freeze the threads or delete the comments, you don't delete the post unless you're the person who made it, and since it's a community, not a personal journal, you don't announce policy changes (or nonchanges) without giving any room for discussion". Because those are communities. Not journals.

Dialects are variants of established languages. Pidgins are amalgams of two languages. English is a pidgin. In the 14th century English storytellers, notably Chaucer, decided to fuse French, the language of the Norman conquerors of Britain, with the common Anglo-Saxon language (itself a pidgin of two Germanic languages).

Firstly, I'm not sure that theory holds true. HOWEVER, even if it did, English would STILL not be a pidgin. Pidgins are truly "primitive" languages, incomplete. A language like English could be a creole, but never a pidgin, because pidgins have no native speakers. As soon as they have native speakers, those speakers develop things like complex grammar, and the language is no longer a pidgin. It's a creole.

African Americans, especially from the South, have family get-togethers that can include many hundreds of participants. They, too, according to AfricanAmerican friends, speak two kinds of English. Yet, the attempt by many African Americans to get Ebonics, a dialect of English, recognized as a valid language failed because Ebonics is a private, not a public, language

AAVE (African American Vernacular English) certainly occurs in public, or else nobody would know about it. He's actually saying people only use this inside the home?

*sighs* Basics, people, basics.

I'm certainly not bitching about what people do in their own journals. My apologies for the misunderstanding, as my view on journals is completely different.

Just sent in reviews for Web Interface and for User Pictures. And for G/unk and Comms, of course. *hugs her favorite section*

Now I need to either improve in those areas or become more active in something hard, like style systems or clients. Decisions, decisions....

If, instead of having to buy a full paid account just for, say, 10 userpics, you could buy each benefit individually. The entire package would be cheaper, but if all you wanted was the ability to make polls, you could buy that, or if you just wanted the extra userpics, you could buy that, and another fee would allow you to buy fancy customization options. No use spending extra money on features you won't use. And you'd have to buy the WHOLE THING to get priority server speed. That's fair.

That was fast! Generally not-bad, though I do need to review those damnable FAQs. Well, that's simple enough. *yawns* And that was FAST. Whee!

We have mice. Or at least mouse. I'm guessing it (they?) came in through the attic, there's a gap wherever the roof meets the floor.

So this week I'll pick up a cat, it doesn't have to be a mouser, we just need "cat smell" in the house (not that sort of cat smell, the sort that's friendly and strikes terror into small rodents of the wild persuasion) and tomorrow this house is getting scrubbed. Yay. Anybody have a cat? Kitten?
