Seriously, I wouldn't be too shocked if the Shrubboy tried something like this. I mean, think about it. They've been saying lately that terrorists might try something this election day. But why? What would that accomplish? I'll tell you what it'd accomplish, it'd accomplish Bush getting to say "Nyah-nyah, I was right, it really IS dangerous out there!" And then they'd lose. They'd lose because they'd have terrorized people straight into a corner where the Shrubboy or something worse would get elected (there is no re about it). Brilliant plan.

Of course, I didn't say any of that. *ducks and covers*

So, now I really do have to get out of the country.

I'm already registered for next term (FUCK!) but I can go anywhere after that. Possibly Belgium. Does anybody know of a French-language immersion program in Belgium? Or Flemish, I'm not too picky.

Assuming I stay in the English-speaking world, I just need to be someplace with a good foreign language and/or linguistics program. Any suggestions? Anyone?

Apparently, people really do claim they'd rather be dead than disabled....

I can't imagine who, but I am assured that this actually happens. So, a word to the wise: If you EVER consider saying that, and aren't prepared to prove it on the spot, don't.

First off, it's fucking insulting. I'm not going to try explaining why, it just is. People do call me rude, or tactless, and they usually have a good reason. If I know that something's rude, there's no excuse for you.

More importantly, it's almost certainly not true. Don't argue, just accept that I'm probably right, because very few people really do prefer to die than live 1. in a wheelchair 2. deaf 3. blind 4. something else. If they did, there'd be far fewer disabled people in this world.

They're just so cuuuuuuuuuuuuute!

*sighs* I miss having kittens around. I like kittens. More than cats, even, because you get to see them grow up. I wonder if there's some sort of kitten foster program. I wouldn't take the ones too young to eat at all (those die too fast, and I can't shake the feeling that it's my fault), and I wouldn't take full grown cats. Just kittens for the cute stage.
