Inconsistencies in Harry Potter...

Somebody posted today, and got me thinking about this. The post was about the death penalty, actually, so how it adds up to Harry Potter, I don't know.

This is by no means an exhaustive list. I don't even expect answers, really, as all authors make mistakes. They're just things that have occured to me.

I miss my dad.

I really do. I don't want to be all melodramatic about it, but... I miss him. It's been fully half my life, and here I am sitting crying because I miss my dad.

Daddy was always the person who made a big deal about holidays, especially christmas, getting a tree and putting tinsel chains all around the living room. I always loved the holidays too, but Jenn and Mommy aren't such great fans, so after he died, we didn't really make that big a deal out of them anymore.

Or on my birthday, for the class parties, I never once got a cake (like everybody else), I got pastries (eclairs, often) or marzipan. I remember my 4th grade birthday party, we didn't play games or whatnot, instead my dad stayed late and told everyone stories about his life. I didn't exactly appreciate that then, but I was the only one.

Anyway, I don't have a point to all this. *shrugs*

Ahhhh... Attack of the sillies.

Somebody posted an argument against PPT here. What she says agrees with what I've heard from other people, and so far nobody has even tried to show actual proof that she's wrong. So I'm inclined to agree with her.

However, she posts, and gets attacked by the dreaded sillies.

1. Okay, Ms. Anonymous poster? I don't think you're actually the person you claim to be... I've spoken to someone else who I believed was Shoomlah, and she did not resort so quickly to crude invectives.

2. Crediting the site does NOT mean you have permission to use the images from neopets. Posting "used with permission" also does NOT mean you actually have permission. The ToS specifically forbids using images on sites with ads. Furthermore, you can find hosts that don't put ads on your site.

3. Spyware isn't the same as viruses, so please stop saying "I haven't gotten a virus yet!!!"

4. There are other sites which do many of the same things PPT does. When people have repeatedly mentioned the names of such sites, claiming you "never saw a link to one of those sites in the arguments" is a bit silly. When people have, in fact, posted a few links (I know I had), it's not silly, it's stupid. ( A short list of such sites: )

5. Just because somebody posts there under the name borovan does NOT mean that Adam posts there. It's called lying.

6. Plenty of people store credit card numbers on their computers. It's called SHOPPING ONLINE or BANKING ONLINE or PAYING BILLS ONLINE.

7. If every site you go to has massive popups, you have problems. One should not have to download a popup blocker to go to PPT when there are other sites they can go to which are just as good (in fact, in some ways better) AND DO NOT HAVE POPUPS OR SPYWARE.

8. No matter WHICH side you're on, posting stupid flames and insults is childish. If you must insult somebody, do so intelligently... it's so much more condescending ;)
