Most of this is people being hypocritical. One of them, though, really bothered me.

"I have done several abortions on women who have regularly picketed my clinics, including a 16 year old schoolgirl who came back to picket the day after her abortion, about three years ago. During her whole stay at the clinic, we felt that she was not quite right, but there were no real warning bells. She insisted that the abortion was her idea and assured us that all was OK. She went through the procedure very smoothly and was discharged with no problems. A quite routine operation. Next morning she was with her mother and several school mates in front of the clinic with the usual anti posters and chants. It appears that she got the abortion she needed and still displayed the appropriate anti views expected of her by her parents, teachers, and peers."

It's possible, even probable that she's really anti-abortion (just choosing to pretend hers doesn't count) but I keep thinking how sad it must be to have your family and friends implicitly telling you that you're evil, and wrong, and not to be able to speak up and say that they don't know what they're talking about.

Man, that must suck. At the same time, those picketers tend to be real nut jobs, so it wouldn't surprise me if she was indeed saying hers didn't count.

That's very common, disgustingly enough.

Somehow it's better to be a hypocrite and a murderer than just a flat-out murderer. [/sarcasm]

Because when you're anti-choice, you made a mistake.

All those OTHER women are dirty sluts.

If she really is pro-choice and trapped in that world though, my heart goes out to her. Those people are the lowest common denominator (the picketers, not all pro-lifers). But I think it's the first one, you wouldn't believe he often it happens.

That happens quite often, unfortunately: people have an abortion and then go back to being pro-life. Goddamn it. I can understand being pro-life (though I think many pro-lifers don't really examine their reasons very deeply), but I absolutely loathe such flaming hypocrites. People forget that rules apply to them. Dumbasses.

But, yeah, if he folks are just forcing her to pretend, then I feel awful for her.
