Elliot had his on Friday (that was also my father's birthday, he would have been 65!), then Jocelyn on Saturday, then Other Ana yesterday, which apparently did not go so well - Angelique told me this morning that "Ana is a... BRAT".
So maybe it's not so surprising that today, the niecelings are stacking up blocks, blowing on them, and singing the Happy Birthday song.
I'd take a picture, but some of us like being naked, I guess.
(And here's a new idea. This time, I post, and everybody comments like a good little sycophant*. Its one of the sad truths of life that nobody wants to do that, so they only comment when they disagree with you, which is great for those days when you want a raging argument**, but today, I really just want to... well, go to the bathroom, honestly, but you get my drift.)
*But only if you want to.
**Yes, that means you, Stej. But I'd be scared if it were otherwise :P

Date: 2008-01-14 07:14 pm (UTC)Kalen was like that, but it happened with him not others. His birthday often lands on Thanksgiving (Canada's) and so he has a Birthday with us, and then usually at his Grandparents...and then sometimes a party. This year we decied that "birthday party overload" needed to stop.

Date: 2008-01-14 07:47 pm (UTC)Even pulling the winning string on the pinata ("and I was the ONLY ONE to open the WHOLE PINATA, not even the BIRTHDAY GIRL") diluted the memory of her friend being less than friendly.
Of course, I'm sure Other Ana has another side to tell.

Date: 2008-01-14 07:49 pm (UTC)Angelique was a very big girl for not wanting to make her friend sad - even though it meant that she was sad. That is hard to do - even as an adult. :)

Date: 2008-01-14 08:20 pm (UTC)The other day, she saw her friend Patrick. She has a massive crush on this boy. Very cute. Hasn't seen him in a while, and when he saw her, he ran up to give her a hug - and was stunned when she shied away and hid. So was his dad, so I had to explain that the last time she saw Patrick (over a month ago), they had fought over a toy train. More specifically, Angelique had picked a fight with him over that train, probably because he was playing with somebody else and she wanted him to play with her (this is what it looked like to me, anyway, and as she's gotten older still, she's become more clear about "I don't know if I can play with so-and-so because so-and-so's friend is here"). From then until the other day, I heard a lot about how "I don't think Patrick is my friend anymore, because we fight" and "I was mean to Patrick" and on and ON.
Of course, Patrick had forgotten all about it, but it preyed on her mind, so when she saw him, she was sure he didn't want to play, so she hid.
She eventually got over it, but honestly - four year olds aren't supposed to act like that, are they? I don't know!

Date: 2008-01-14 08:22 pm (UTC)Kalen is 6 and sometimes says that someone is not his friend cause they didn't sit with him, or they didn't play with him that day - but usually he is over it the next day.

Date: 2008-01-14 11:00 pm (UTC)She wasn't holding a grudge against Patrick last week - rather, judging from her conversations over the previous month, I think she was worried that he was holding a grudge against her, simply because that's what she thinks she would have done in his situation.
