I put the kids down to nap.
Dec. 27th, 2007 01:29 pmMichele thought it was much too early, but as they haven't napped since before Christmas, I consider this more than reasonable. Angelique fell asleep in less than 20 minutes, which must be a record for a four year old.
It's so funny, though. I left Evangeline in her crib, untucked in (why bother? She was sitting up insisting at the top of her lungs that she wasn't tired) so I could get her sister dealt with. Ana needs more nap help anyway. (Evangeline used to really annoy me as a baby. I'd hold her and cuddle her at naptime, and finally give up and walk away - and the she'd go "Eh eh eh" and fall asleep two minutes later. I'm all opposed to crying it out, but this doesn't even count! But it irritated me, because I was trying to do right by her, and she just wasn't helping me out here.)
Now, if when Ana was this age, I was watching her at naptime, and I left her in her crib or swing to fall asleep, even if she was perfectly happy I'd have to sneak back in and re-tuck her in. Her blanket and whatever she was snuggling with would have been gleefully tossed on the floor. Evangeline is just the opposite - I don't even bother tucking her in, and I creep back in later to make sure she isn't cold, and you know what? She's snuggled herself neatly under her blankets and is carefully hugging her doll. Probably even said "Snug as a bug in a rug" as she did so, too!
