(We have cardamom seeds, hulled - how cool is that?)

Anyway, as she was scooping them out, she saw... movement. *sigh* Elise apparently wanted to toss them out right there, but my view was that cardamom seeds save time and money, and there's a lot of them left, and they cost me $6, and a little protein never hurt anybody, and how about we just kill everything and forget it ever happened, and did I mention that was $6?

My view prevailed, and now the seeds (moved to a new container) are sitting in Jenn's freezer. I feel a bit bad about this whole thing, but not very. I mean, $6! And we use more cardamom than you'd expect.

I remember when my dad threw out my 10 lb. bag of rice because there were some bugs in it. I was like a) so what? b) you rinse rice really, really well before you cook it anyway, so again, so what? He threw away the measuring cup it came with, too, which is really annoying because it's damn near impossible to find 3/4 cup measuring cups.

I'm with you - cardamon is expensive, and it can be hard to find.

Yeah well, you live in New York. New York has everything.

It's not so easy to find here. I had to go back to Houston, to the ethnic grocery store I used to shop at. They have all those good spices.

Sage or thyme are okay, but they're not the same!! I caved and bought the ground stuff. i was desperate when my spice rack ran ot of it. And my tumeric...well. I found it empty one day, and a yellow Topher. Seth said he was trying to "make brother yummy". -_-

And yeah, kass mentioned it. And *we* still call him Topher, which is what matters. Boys are due to come home next month, right before Thanksgiving, so he'll get used to his name again. He responds to "Topher" when I talk to him on the phone, so not all is lost, lol. :)

the hard thing will be getting seth to CONSISTANTLY say "Annika" properly. sometimes he says "Nomika". *sigh*
