Wow...

I'm... almost speechless. I have to say, I didn't see that coming. Cassidy was a cold-blooded killer the whole time. And so's Duncan.

On the whole, I still feel kinda sorry for Cassidy, though. Not *very* sorry, because he's a vindictive mass murderer/serial killer who RAPED VERONICA (because that's the biggest crime, right? I'm sure it's the one she feels closest to, but....) and hurt Mac a lot.

But still. They couldn't even come up with a reason for him not to suicide himself.

wow. good thing I'm a spoiler junkie.

Wow! Just wow. I haven't been keeping up with VM for a while, but I remember people speculating that Cassidy may have been an evil mastermind.

And he *did* rape Veronica? Whoa.

Okay. Good thing Bittorrent is my friend.

I'm a bit gobsmacked by it all, and I didn't even see the episode. In a way I like that he raped V because people can now shut up about how she 'wasn't really raped' (even though I always considered what happened with Duncan a rape anyway). On the other hand, it seems like retconning to me.

I really liked Mac/Beav, what I saw of them as a couple (though I haven't seen a bunch of episodes). They were one of the few high school couples on that show who really seemed like a high school couple. So I'm bummed on that front that he turned out to be totally, totally evil.

I guess I'll have to watch all the eps I have downloaded and see what I think then. This whole season has been so odd somehow. I think I like season 1 better. Nothing will beat "An Echolls Family Christmas" for me.

You know, "they" say that the most compelling bad guys are the ones who think they're doing the right thing. Now, I wouldn't go so far as to say Cassidy thought he was doing right, but he obviously saw his actions as protecting himself. I mean, his dad was a neglectful workaholic embezzlerthing, his brother was a jerk who always picked on him, his mom dumped them and took off, his step-mom doesn't give a rat's ass unless something is in it for her, and honestly, his dad and Kendall were probably his best role model. Not one of them cared a bit about him or showing him right and wrong in the legal or moral sense. He always had to protect himself and look out for himself, which is essentially what all of his crimes did.

He took it way, way too far - maybe that's why he offed himself at the end - and he knew that, but in a way, everything he did was logical (even raping Veronica, except Dick didn't believe him so it didn't actually give him any peace on that front. And if he did have a little problem, as the bedroom scene with Mac indicates, maybe it helped him protect himself mentally by giving him a way to think of himself as a man). Everything he did made perfect sense, if he was only thinking about himself and no one else, in the sociopathic sense. He even tried to break it off with Mac and keep her uninvolved for a while, and he didn't physically hurt her or even incapacitate her, just take her clothes so she couldn't go after him (I assume that was the reasoning, at least, though I can think of some psychological ones as well).

Which is not to say it was right at all, objectively, but subjectively, maybe he saw it as not exactly wrong.

And I'm really grossing myself out trying to get into Cassidy's head, so I think I'll stop now.

Adam and I were stunned that they not only wrapped up this season's stuff, but they wrapped up stuff from *last* season that we didn't think was on the table anymore!
