He sees you when you're sleeping
He knows when you're awake
He knows when you've been bad or good...

Okay, I'm cheating. This quote certainly should inspire the average child to sheer terror. Some guy? Watching me sleep? Watching my every move? Then having the nerve to judge me? Physician, heal thyself!

Scary little song, that is.

A total stalker song, right there with "Every Breath You Take."

I don't get why so many people find that such a romantic song, given that it's about stalking someone.

Creepy.

I remember hating that song when I was a kid in the 80s. I hated the lyrics. Then later I found out that the Police were actually quite chagrined to find out that it was considered this great romantic love song (it was supposed to be about a creepy stalker) and was being played at weddings everywhere, and they actually recorded "If you love someone, set them free" in response to that.

Hearing about that made me feel so vindicated.

my daughter *hates* the idea of santa claus, i'm sure for at least partially that very reason. this year, i'm telling her the easter bunny is bringing her presents, instead.

::CRACKS UP!!:: That's exactly why a character of mine not native to Earth is completely freaked out by "that creepy old stalker guy who goes around in a tacky fur-trimmed velvet suit and does reverse burglaries."

Most Earth holidays completely mystify her. "So let me get this straight. A holiday celebrating peace on earth involves little people-shaped cookies you eat?" (re: gingerbread men)

She likes Guy Fawkes Day though. "We blow up someone in effigy with fireworks? ...Where do I sign up?"

Why do I want to introduce that character to the concept of the Easter Bunny, and then show her Monty Python and the Search for the Holy Grail?

Already been done. ::snerks:: Whenever non-native newcomers arrive now, she likes to be quick on the ball to "introduce" them to Earth holidays and customs -- via her interpretation -- just to be an ornery little shit.
