It's very rude to post and then say "Don't comment if you don't agree with me". I agree, it's ruder to call people out on their rudeness, but... oh, look, I never claimed to be polite.

Edit: Just out of curiosity, and this is completely unrelated, I swear... does anybody know who the maintainer of [livejournal.com profile] hp_theories is? I'd like some sort of statement in there about the rules regarding non-theories.

You know, that really annoys me too. I mean, if it's formed as a polite question (i.e. Would you mind not commenting if you don't agree with me, please?) it's mildly less annoying, but here's a concept: if people don't want comments, turn off the comments. And if you want comments but don't want to argue with people about it, just ignore the comments disagreeing with you. It's not so hard.

In a community, disallowing comments can often be rude - but you can set them to not be emailed to you. I pretty much agree with the others of - I wouldn't find it rude in someone's personal journal, but I would in a community journal.
