I hate people all the time. Myself included.

It's crap like this that makes me too doubtful to donate money online. Ever. Or to people who come to my door, or to people who call me... I just don't donate money unless I go seek out a charity myself. This "social experiment" of hers has the effect of making generous people afraid to be generous.

I can't call her a moron (though I did notice a time discrepancy in her original posts, I assumed it was because she was stressed), because she pulled it off well, but I will call her a bitch.

When I first read that, I though something smelt awfully fishy. I'm not cold-heaarted or anything, but that seemed just about too awful to be real.

Damn I guss this icon is apppriate eh??

Wow, just all of that just irks me, when people do stuff like that.

Real social experiments involve either informed consent or an ethics review beforehand, part of which requires justifying why informed consent is not possible and that the experiment will not harm the participants in any way.

Doesn't sound like an experiment to me. She actually took the donations. She continued posting lie after lie, even after she'd said she had all the money she needed. So those lies were pointless to the supposed experiment of seeing if people would send money. The story is still fishy.

I think she intended to scam people and was caught and this is her way of back-pedaling, to avoid fraud charges.

I also think she's pretty starved for attentions, as she just keeps adding and adding to the lies and drama.

Yeah... if she had rejected the donations somehow— or even if she just gave it all to an animal shelter or something else in the public interest— I'd have a lot more sympathy. As I see it now, she's just bilking people.

Wait, I take that back— I reread the post, and see that she will be donating to the SPCA. Somehow I missed that the first time around.

Still, it just reeks of scamminess that she let it go on for that long. There are other, far better ways to do an 'experiment' like that, as far as I'm concerned.

Hmm, last I read it, she was going to give it all back and recognized that giving it to a shelter would still be fraud.

Well, giving to an animal shelter would still be fraud, because that's not what those people thought they were giving money to.

She is supposedly giving the money back. But if it was really an experiment, it would have been better to never actually accept donations in the first place. And certainly to not keep egging it on after posting that she already had the finances covered. What's the "experiment" at that point?

Oh my God. I didn't click the link when you posted it because I love cats too much and I don't have any money to give away. But that is just sick, playing with people's compassion like that.

I wouldn't be suprised if she was attempting to scam either.

Oh, and to add to my previous comments:

She may have restored her faith in humanity, but in doing this so-called 'experiment', she ruined everyone else's.

Sure glad she's not a friend of mine.

And I feel very badly for the poor gal who got torn to bits for no real reason.
