I'm wandering around LiveJournal looking for bookish icons so that I can ask the creators to crosspost to book_icons and thus expand our repetoire. Not that we need new posters so much, but. (Incidentally, if you can think of any authors with large fan bases whom I may have missed, please tell me)

And that's how I found this. The person who started that thread shouldn't've picked the fight, but.... *stares*

Enh, I have no problem with giving kids alcohol in moderation. I think it leads to responsible drinking habits and less desire to binge on alcohol because it's new, exciting, and cool. I don't have many feelings on marijuana. So, I don't mind those aspects, just her bigotry.

Oh agreed, my dad gave me sips of his beer as a kid, and the taste alone was enough for me to NEVER touch it when I got older.

I just find it odd that someone who's so against the typical conservative stuff is pro-weed and okay with giving kids alcohol. If you're going to shelter your kids from the world, it makes sense to shelter them from that stuff too.

Yep, same here! It also "helped" that we lived down in the valley from a curvy road that was the check-point for lots of drunk drivers. Nope, no drunkenness for me!
