Edit: *I* use Firefox. You can still extoll it, in case there are some people on my friends list who use icky IE, but you don't need to extoll it to me :)

I use firefox because it tends to suck in a way that pisses me off less than anything else I've tried. It has, however, been pissing me off a lot recently (I upgraded to the most recent version and tabbrowser extensions stopped working, and using it without that is driving me nuts) so I may be changing.

Hm. If I knew anything at all about anything, I'd suggest making your own, but you might just laugh hysterically if I do.

TBE went belly-up on me, too, and went so far as to start giving me DLL errors whenever I started Firefox. :-( If it had just given me the error once each time I started the browser, I could have handled it, but instead I had to click through between 6 and 10 warning dialogs every time, which was too much!

I'm now trying the "Tab Mix" extension, and that seems to have (most of) the same functionality -- you might try that:
