Terri Schiavo is not on life support. She does not use a ventilator. I don't know where that story started, but here it ends. She is not hooked up to any machines. She uses a feeding tube. That is not life support. Taking her off the feeding tube will cause her to - slowly - starve or dehydrate.

There is evidence that she reacts to things around her. There is also evidence that her condition would be drastically improved if the money from the settlement had gone towards her treatment instead of her husband's court bills.

So please, base your opinions off of accurate information.

And now, I will let other people talk about being in situations where they were believed dead, and post those links (links I've posted before) about other people who nearly died because "after all, she's not going to recover, might as well pull the plug now" - and at the time, they were conscious.

Actually, if I were on an insulin pump, then yes, the needle would be attached to my body (though not muscle) 24/7.

However, I was referring to your original comment in which you said "there are other ways to control diabetes than insulin" and mentioned that your aunt, who is a "severe diabetic", is not on insulin. I was commenting that insulin is the only way to control Type 1 diabetes, so please don't go around making comments like "there are other ways to control diabetes" when you obviously don't know much about the disease at all.

The guy who "frigging discovered insulin" was Sir Frederick Banting, (a Canadian, by the way) and he was not a diabetic. He did not take insulin to keep himself alive, though he did test it on himself. Before insulin was discovered, people with Type 1 diabetes lived for a few years by following severe starvation diets before they finally succumbed.

Again, you obviously do not know much about the subject. Here are some URLs:

http://www.diabetesmonitor.com
http://www.diabetes.ca (if you are in Canada)
http://www.diabetes.org (if you are in the U.S.)
http://www.diabetes.org.uk (if you are in the United Kingdom)
http://www.diabetes.org.au (if you are in Australia)

People with Type 2 diabetes can and do live without insulin, though not all of them manage it.

Educate yourself before you make sweeping statements about a subject.
