Mild problem (as compared to the BIG problem I just posted about)

I'd love to be able to use my laptop at school to go online, there seem to be plenty of workable places I could plug in my laptop, but... the free client they suggest doesn't seem to exist. Hm....

Any alternatives? I know youse guys can come through for me. You all directed me towards my beautiful firefox, after all.

start -> control panel -> system -> device menu

Start -> control panel -> network

Either or should show you if you have a wireless adapter. It should be the same in windows xp, 9x, and 2k. I've not really used XP but it's supposed to be similar to 2k. If you have the card in there it should have some sort of utility. Either way I think you need to know the name of the card to know what utility might work with it.
