I have an icon idea based on... well, that more recent thread.

We all know that there's TV/movie/book characters who are so obviously aspie, right? I want an icon of 'em. I'll make up a list, and then post it, and then I want an icon! With the quote: Obviously Incredibly High Functioning (because I, unlike some people, probably am).

I'm going to be smart and stay away from That Thread, but I still want my icon.

Hm, I should start. There's Monk, who is NOT OCD, and his upstairs neighbor, and Lt. Barclay, and Anya (apparently).... Oh, and two characters from Discworld (that I know of): Jeremy Clockson in "Thief of Time" and the Stanley in Going Postal. And that kid with the weird name in "Silent to the Bone".

Limiting myself to humans from books/tv/movies I've seen.

Maybe Lilo? From Lilo y Stitch?

Well, I suspect Goren, although I know there's plenty of debate on that. And the Adam Sandler character in Punch-Drunk Love...

I guess we can't count Data, can we? ;-)

Det. Goren is in Law & Order: Criminal Intent. In one episode he "diagnosed" another character (a suspect) with Asperger's. His partner kept saying things like, "How does it feel to meet someone who's just like you?" or "He's so much like you, it's scary."

Damn. I was gonna suggest Barclay.

And may I use the icon when you've made it? Please?

I'd make it for you, but I hate animation. Also, I'm much too lazy to search out pictures of these characters. I'm not even sure that some of them have pictures to them, as they're book characters. What do you plan to do for that?

(Please don't mind me if I sound contrary. Am v. annoyed as I just lost about seven rows of knitting due to my clumsiness and inability to pick up stitches..)

Err, yeah. Anything that is comprised of a number of frames put together in a sequence and then set going is technically animation, I think. In terms of livejournal, any icon with moving bits is animated, even if it isn't in the disney movie sense. You use an animation program to make them move, after all.

I wouldn't do it because I'd have to use animation shop to make it, and I'm awful with animation shop. It makes my head hurt and it takes too long to get minimal results. It's utterly sucky and nearly impossible to get really large files compressed enough that they'll fit the size limit and still look good -- and I hate making subpar icons. With the amount of pictures you're suggesting, it would probably have to switch a lot, which would increase the file size and make the pictures look bad. You'll have to get someone who is really good at making animated icons to try it for you..perhaps Xiggy?

Ask Ty -- she's better at animating than I am, and she might be looking for some way to procrastinate studying tonight.

The more pictures you have, the harder it is to keep the file size down. In general, though, as long as it's not full of complex animation/fading, it won't get too big; the simpler the picture, the better. If you find the pictures, Uly, I'd be happy to try to put something together, but no way am I doing all that research. ^_~
