The amount of misinformation contained here is scary.

It is perfectly natural to not masturbate. Some people just don't. And, of course, it's perfectly natural to masturbate, and to want to - it will not make you go blind, grow hair, or get pimples. I'm a bit wary of searching for a link to prove that a lack of masturbation isn't connected to a frequency of wet dreams (don't want to find nothing but porn!) but I'm 93% confident that I am correct in that statement.

Nobody *has* to masturbate. You won't die if you don't. It's just that most people prefer to than to not.

*ponders* From what I know (both from teaching informal sex-ed classes and from growing up with a lot of guy friends) you're mostly right. However, I'm pretty sure it's been proven that in the thick of puberty, frequency of masturbation usually has a direct correlation to frequency of wet dreams. However, once the hormonal surge levels out, sex drive becomes a personal thing.

Some men have lower sex drives that allow them to live comfortably without needing regular relief through masturbation. Conversely, some men have much higher sex drives, and may find themselves experiencing wet dreams if they break with a regular masturbation routine. It all comes down to the individual, just like in women. You're right - it's only social conditioning that tells us that men need release all the time.
