The one problem I'm seeing now is if Kerry actually got more votes than Bush.
It said there were something like 3,484 extra votes or whatever, and that only about 680 voted. Well, it still might not matter if the majority votes are for Bush anyway. Like, 457 votes Bush and 223 votes for Kerry.
And if Kerry did get more votes in that one county, then will it make a difference in the electoral votes? That's only one county, and 680 voters.
And even if it does, are there grounds for impeachment for machine malfunction? I think impeachment has to take improper conduct from the politician to work.
The only way impeachment would work is if the malfunction was due to someone's intervention on the behalf of Bush. Either that, or later illegal indiscretions done by Bush during his term.
That's all really a slim chance.
I don't even know why I'm arguing. I guess I just am a devil's advocate.

Yes, that is certainly the obvious concern :)

I agree. However... well, I'm a suspicious cynic at heart. This is the sort of conspiracy theory that I can see as possible. Maybe it's not a conspiracy. That's certainly as likely as the other. However, malfunctions of the magnitude need to be looked into.
