Here.

What's interesting is that they define asexuality so narrowly. I think many people who identify as asexual would not define it as having no sexual interest in people, ever. I mean, that's true for some people, but not many.

What's also interesting is the 3% number given for the amount of gay people in the world. I realize that different groups tend to skew the stats, but I thought the accepted number was higher than just 3% of the population...?

Perhaps their definition of "gay" is as narrow as their definition of "asexual".

Possibly that and possibly also never having dated or had sex with the "opposite" gender.

Statistics in Tutorial today said that gays are 10% of the population.

I'm asexual, and that's not how I'd define it. I'm not attracted to anyone, but that doesn't mean I don't want sex, either...

I have a friend who self-defines as "autosexual". <grin>

No attraction, no desire for sex with others, but definite sex drive.

Thats what I always heard. and it seems that way also-- 1 in 10 people are gay. That makes sense to me.
Though I live in a rarified and liberal environment.

Same here.

It's not that I don't occasionally like sex, I'm jst not really attracted to anyone in that way. I could live without sex.

I find the Asexual label to be as limiting as any for me. it's very frustrating :(

hmmm

i think 3% has to be a conservative limit based on people who were "out" and listing that they were "out" on the last census or something, if thats even an option. in every place i have been, approx 10% of the people show up to be homosexual. like at work for example, we have roughly 700 people working at my call center and there are about 65 homos/lesbians/bisexuals. same thing at kmart when i worked there. 70 workers, 8 homosexuals. obviously, you are going to find places with more and less, but i think 10% is a fair figure.
