When he tried it at home, the results from entering his zip code gave nothing at all close. when he tried it at work, it showed several very close to his home.
This got him curious, and he spent some time entering different zip codes top try to figure out what was going on.
He finally figured out that whoever wrote the code for that page thought the zip codes that were *numerically* close were *geographically* close.
This bears no resemblance whatsoever to reality.
