Yeah, I know you can't. I let my red pencil powers go to my head sometimes, is all. So I occasionally remind people to smite me if I'm being hypercorrective.

"Smitten" is just the past participle of "smite". It doesn't imply anything other than "struck". I was making a play on words. The response I expected was a similar play, "Oh, yes, I love being corrected!" or the like.
