Spirit, our smallest cat, went out and attacked a turkey

Twice. Nobody was harmed but the turkey decided to get her food under somebody else’s feeder.

I tried and failed to get this on video.

Spirit is, hands down, the most hardcore badass cat we have. She’s also kinda mean. I’ve seen her sneak attack the other animals for no reason. I believe she could take on a goose, even.

A turkey! Those are damn big birds! You'd think size would mean something to the cat, but apparently bird overrides all common sense! (Which is very funny!)

No, that's geese. Turkeys, according to the NYC Parks Department, like to act tough but are "really timid at heart".

Yes, geese are truly the evil birds. I've had them, and seen what they can do to other large birds- and to me. Our big male hated me with a passion. But the turkeys here, while they do *not* seek out violence, sometimes violence chooses them, and they are capable of being real assholes then. I guess Idaho geese are more prone to violence than New York ones are! (sort of like a lot of the people...)

Her specific human has given up keeping her indoors. Honestly, she seems like she can take care of herself. (Which ought to be cause for worry, but she's found out how to sneak outside.)

No, she’s the pretty black cat that properly belongs to one of A’s friends who stays with us. The kids have snuck pets in with less subtlety thank they snuck him in! One day we looked around and realized he’d been here two weeks! And some time after that they retrieved the cat from his brother, who wasn’t taking care of her properly.

I have pics from 2 times when one of my cats decided to stalk a turkey that was checking out my backyard, though they didn’t actually attack before the turkey decided to move on. So cute!
