1. This is the most entry level of the entry level jobs. Why the hell does it need three references?

2. I'm sure many people would say that I can be needlessly pedantic. However, even I can't see the point of clarifying that this fictional book that takes place during the Tudor period is specifically "historical fiction". Geez, what a waste of a comment thread. There was exactly zero need to tell the OP to say that.

Perhaps they think a Tudor is an old model of Ford auto.

If it's entry level, then 3 references may be a way of screening people out...

Because 3 is the number created originally on the form?

if there's a user-operated tagging system or something where "historical fiction" is a bucket OP did not put the post in, then I get why it's worth telling OP to do the thing, but I get the impression that this is not a that situation

What do you say about those who write things in which they inform us that William Dalrymple's history, The Anarchy, a novel? (Dalrymple's is not the same Anarchy as the Medieval English historical era called The Anarchyv -- this part of the history of the East India Company in India.)

Myself, I lie down and close mine eyes in despair.

Three references for entry level work sounds like a place that wants to ensure they only hire people with pristine work records.

Was it the kind of audience that wouldn't know the Tudor period as historical? Or were there dates and enough clues that would make it pretty easy to pick it up from context?
