I've been playing Skyrim on my switch.

And I've had so much fun playing my heavily excessively modded Stardew Valley on the computer that I thought "Gosh, I wonder if I could play a modded Skyrim on the computer" and the answer is not this computer!

That's part of why I wanted to boost the ram, which I haven't gotten around to yet, and anyway in the process I worked out that the graphics card won't do the trick either. And google suggests that while it may in theory be possible to replace that, in practice the only card that physically fits inside the computer requires more power than this computer is actually capable of handling, with the result that the people who have managed it have about a 50% rate of their computers entirely crapping out.

Not really ideal.

And meanwhile, all I want to do is adopt more than two adorable urchins.

Sigh.

Though I should probably finish my first game anyway. I'm currently playing a meta-game called "How long can I put off starting the main quest". We're at level almost-50 and counting! (I've seen what happens to Jenn. Every time she goes somewhere, there's another fucking dragon. Which, okay, cool - but if they eat too many NPCs I won't be able to properly close out - or, in especially tragic cases, start - their quests.)

I've seen some of the Skyrim mods and never wanted them. Vanilla Skyrim has always been fine for me. Even if the character models are often ugly, the scenery is fine. There is something very weird about seeing someone on YouTube coming across a beautiful NPC who I know is an old hag inside!

I don't think you'll miss many important quests, but realize the longer you put off starting the main quest the stronger the dragons will start out compared to the NPCs. So yes, many NPCs will die before you can save them once you turn down that path in your current game! If I were you, I'd start a new game before doing the main quests! Just be happy with how much you could do without the main quests.

I never travel with a companion in the base game once I leave the Graybeards for the first time. (Serana in the Dawnguard storyline is a different matter.) But, there is nothing like coming home to Lydia and the kids after a tough quest. Have fun!

I get you on that. Me and Michelle both did some work on our rigs to finally get them updated to a point where we feel comfortable with them: aside from the gaming aspect, I need the graphics power for rendering and she uses it for work and I've had my hand cut way too many times from coolers.

On that note, if you want a bigger case we have a glass mid tower case that should fit an air cooler that we'd be okay with parting with if you want to take a trip to central Jersey or some place close. I know it fit a 6700xt pretty comfortably but can't do all-in-one liquid unless you really want to toy around with putting a 240mm in.

We also have a 6700xt (she upgraded) that saw a year of use without overclocking during the silicon shortage that I can see about parting with (need to check with her but I think she'd be okay with 250 as an estimate).
