Well, it's Raccoon Season again.

The lurid sounds of raccoons being raccoons at the tops of their lungs would be a lot less irritating if Moonpie didn't take the very existence of raccoons as a personal affront.

I did not know what sounds raccoons make. I looked it up now, and would never have guessed them making a trilling noise. That's probably one of the mysterious noises I hear by the lakebed at night sometimes!

I found out tonight that everybody else in the house thought it was somebody having car trouble. I sometimes wonder if I'm living in an entirely different cognitive world from everybody else I know.

I heard some (or one, at least) screaming outside last night. I always think, if someone from the city heard that they'd think a woman was being murdered.

She will actually attempt to leap out windows to get them if we carelessly leave one open where her little legs can jump to. And she can jump pretty high, so....

We've been getting our share of raccoon screeches late at night, here in Queens. Not sure whether they're mating or fighting over mates.
