Seriously, it ends on a note of "Welp, I managed to accomplish my primary objective of keeping my not!boyfriend safe, and we accidentally accomplished the secondary objective of freeing my homeworld from his conquering parents (didn't even know that was still an option, whoops) but in the process the resistance found out about him so I had to suddenly solve a third objective of reclaiming my rightful throne* in order to re-accomplish the primary objective, which honestly didn't occur to me until the last ten pages, and now he hates me."

Which is quite a lot for an epilogue.

* Two secret heirs is at least one too many for a book, but eh, I'll go with it so long as no more pop up in the next one.
