(Why do I always say "the" ice cream truck instead of "an" ice cream truck?)

Either ice cream trucks are an essential business, because they sell food I guess, or he had gone rogue. Whatever, he wore a mask and buying ice cream cones was honestly the most exciting thing to happen to us since March. Better yet, it's the good kind of exciting.

(Except for the part where he was out of rainbow sprinkles. Bah.)

It sounds right to say "the."

It also sounds delicious!

It's the ice cream truck because there is only one. Like Santa. They may appear in many forms, but don't be fooled. 😄

Yesterday my store had ice cream sandwiches and things in the break room and I had an orange pushpop for the first time in years!

This might explain contractors and repair services. "The plumber" came today, "the electrician" is coming next week (but won't), "the junk hauler" is allegedly coming in October... it explains so much!

They sell food, and it's already takeout-only.

I'm getting ice cream delivered, but people around here take ice cream seriously.

The idea of a rogue ice cream truck is awesome.

It's interesting that in any given geographic area, there generally IS only one ice cream truck. Why do ice cream trucks (assuming there are, in fact, many of them) not compete for sales territory? Or at least split a territory chronologically: you get even-numbered days, I do odd-numbered days, and we both work when the temperature is above 90F, or something like that?

Are ice cream trucks purely privately-owned, privately-owned franchises of The Company, or entirely owned by The Company? I think the first is unlikely; the other two possibilities explain why there's generally only one truck in an area, but replace that question with why there is apparently only one ice cream truck COMPANY in a geographic area.

Curious economic conundra.

I have lived in an area with competing ice-cream vans - there were, I think three, but at this point I can only remember that there was a pink one and a blue one. The reason I think there were three is I have a vague memory of three separate tunes (only one of which was Greensleeves)

An ice-cream truck came down our street yesterday. We didn't buy any because it wasn't hot enough though.

Ice cream truck goes around every afternoon in my part of LA. I have not visited it.

There rarely is more than one truck in any given space. Which is curious, since there supposedly is a good amount of markup you can make on ice cream...
