It's not ideal for a long time, but it can work for stressful periods without them falling behind.

But, speaking of math workbooks, I'd like to recommend the Real World Math Problem Solving series (https://smile.amazon.com/s?k=%22Real-World+Math+Problem+Solving%22), because it sneakily adds reading comprehension and history into math spreadsheets. I mean - how often does math homework for third graders include reading and analyzing a poem by Whitman?
