The Lunar Chronicles is coming out with new covers

I like these!

But I don't like the series nearly enough to get a whole second set just for the covers. It's very heteronormative, and everybody gets paired up very neatly, very fast. Still, it's fun enough. The covers are very tempting.

Those are such pretty covers for books I absolutely never want to read. They feel a little bit like 90s shojo covers and a little bit influenced by the colouring on book covers in the 80s, but somehow very now.

SO hetero and they were heading toward being paired off like they were on railroad tracks. It's a compelling narrative, but it would have been a physical relief to read one of the characters saying, "I think I'm polyam/ sixteen and thinking I want to explore my options/ actually more into the horny robot lady, thanks."

Those covers are SO much better than the originals. As for heteronormative, that's what fanfic is for.
