So, which is worse, do you think?

Here's something really scary. I don't think things are going to get better if Bush isn't (re)elected. When did you ever hear of anybody, least of all the government, willingly giving up power? What's going to happen is everybody'd talk about how wonderful civil liberties are, and how terrible the trend NOW was (before the election in the future... are you following?)... and nothing is ever going to change.

I don't think it will be an issue, as I highly doubt there will be an election.

*snerk*

Just a wary election supervisor, watching the corruption erode everything I work for.

That is a great book, but yeah, no way in hell I would lay hands on it at the moment. That just sucks.

Heh. No doubt. Only read that one once. Scared the hell out of me. Have read the Handmaid's Tale twice. Never read The Lottery. Trying to think of other ones...

Same here. (This will be my 3rd election as a a precinct inspector/supervisor in the SF Bay Area.)

I'm planning on asking the county clerk what she wants us to do if the government derails things on election day, because that would leave me with a building full of infuriated liberal voters. Part of me thinks it seems ridiculous to imagine that even Bush & Co. would dare shut the election down midway...but then I remember some of the other things that have gone on and realize that it might be something worth worrying about after all. :-p

I think there's a difference between the words "suicide bomb" written in an airport and a picture of a big-boobed video-game character in someone's backpack.

I'm pretty pessimistic too. I wonder if things don't need to get a whole hell of a lot worse before they get better. Still, I want to see Bush out of office.
