I assume they sent police to synagogues because the big day for synagogues is Saturday. Isn't Friday the big day for mosques? The true test is to see if they do anything then. Or, for that matter, did they send police to churches today?

I have no idea if we're getting any police protection here next Shabbat. Normally if we want it we have to hire off-duty officers, which we do for the high holy days but not routinely.
