Real answer: It depends on the date on which you watch it... :]

I put it on the Christmas Movies display at work last year (along with Die Hard and Gremlins and Hamlet and Iron Man 3) so it must be Christmas.

I chose Halloween though because the ending really doesn't have that Christmas-movie-feeling to me.

Plus the aesthetics are so undeniably Halloweenish.

Yeah, I refuse to vote in this rigged poll because it's obviously both and there's nothing wrong with watching it more than once in a year.

IT'S RIGHT THERE IN THE TITLE. A movie about Santa figuring out how fun and awesome Halloween is and learning the true spooky meaning of the holiday would be a Halloween movie!

But Halloween IS before Christmas. The theme is Jack re-discovering how fun and awesome Halloween is.

But really, it's a "whenever I get the songs stuck in my head" movie.

Well, my family does, but that's because it's cheaper and more convenient and people pay you doubletime to work on the birthday of a god whose squad doesn't want us at the party. But Halloween is still chronologically closer to "before" Epiphany, that pesky intervening year-turn notwithstanding.

Now, I could definitely see TNBC as being more thematically appropriate to Halloween, but better for the soul when watched on Christmas...

The correct answer is Yes, and today I'm taking my wife to a performance by the Phoenix Symphony, where they're showing the movie and the symphony is playing the score! Her 50th birthday was yesterday and we had planned on being in Phoenix and I found this happening. Tickets were not cheap, and our best friend screwed up her schedule and is not joining us, but we're still looking forward to a good time.

I have no idea. I don't believe I've seen that movie. But I'm not into either Halloween or Christmas.

Well ...

Both. As it relies entirely on the confluence of the two, it fits both categories and may be watched in October and/or December as viewers prefer.

It's neither; it's a Day After Halloween movie.

Nope, haven't even heard of it, but we've watched The Nightmare Before Christmas on the day after Halloween for more than twenty years now.
