On the first question, we don't use plastic (or any) garbage bags. We stuff the garbage into old pillow cases and then dump it in the big dumpsters that the city gives us.

It's the same 2 pillowcases. We put garbage in them, then take the garbage outside and dump it in the big bins the city gives us. Then we wash or just return the pillow case. We compost everything so we don't really have any dirty or smelly garbage.
