Evil people. I'm already pissed that there has to be the ADA. I'd've thought it was common sense that you don't make buildings people can't go in, or make it impossible for people to work - but apparently I was mistaken, and people bitch about this all the time.

My friend was telling me yesterday that the MacDonalds in town has been under fire because it is basically impossible to open the doors if you're in a wheelchair. Their defence is actually kind of fair - if they make doors that can be opened from a wheelchair, they're concerned that children will also be able to open them, and it opens right onto a busy road. But it prevents a difficult situation for them...

The proposed amendment is plain stupid. Adding discrimination to an act to prevent discrimination would be hilarious were they not serious.

Yes, just the one way in and out, and it's right onto the main road through town. I presume they will have to make some sort of compromise eventually, and I shall be interested to see what it is (for the time being wheelchair users on their own ring a bell and someone comes and lets them in.)
