Date: 2018-08-04 07:53 pm (UTC)Without it, I'm afraid that far too many folks I knew would have spent most of their foodstamps on that sort of thing instead of spending less "money" (and more time) doing much the same thing at home.
These were folks who had to have it explained to them (with calculations and stuff) that buying the small jars of mustard/mayo/ketchup etc at the corner convenience store was costing them several times what a "normal" sized jar at a supermarket would and that *that* was why they were always running out of money.
