You know what? It's true. I never have seen a waning moon. I always see it either full or waxing (or possibly new, but I don't know about that). MAYBE, I see it a day after the full moon, but that's it. And it's not intentional, either, because every time I notice the moon isn't full anymore, but it's getting fuller, I realize that, yup, once again I've missed it waning.

This month will be different. If I have to get out of bed in the middle of the night, I will. I *will* see the waning moon.

Well, it does appear at different times when it's waning than when it's waxing, so I guess it's not too surprising that you wouldn't see it...

I was going to comment on your blue moon post, but I didn't get around to it, so I'll just do it here: I mentioned to my dad that it was a blue moon, and he said something like, "Yeah, by the incorrect definition in Sky and Telescope magazine. It's really the fourth full moon in three months." If there's a difference, I don't get it.

You don't have to get out of bed in the middle of the night to see it. The waning Moon is visible in the daytime sky. this site (http://aa.usno.navy.mil/faq/docs/moon_phases.html) will give you the accurate time of moonrise and moonset for your location, for any day - click on "Complete Sun and Moon Data for One Day". *smiles* Enjoy!

I've heard different opinions on the full moon, and whether or not it really affects people's moods. I guess the notion that it does, is technically incorrect.

I, however, beg to differ. I've noticed that when the moon is waxing and/or full, I'm usually in a very good mood. When it's waning, ESPECIALLY when it's new, I'm a cranky bitch.

It could have something to do with my hormonal changes falling on those days, since a woman's cycle is almost the same as the moon's, but it's not EXACTLY the same, which leads me to believe it's the moon.

When I had my hysterectomy, they left me one good ovary so that I wouldn't have to take hormones. The downside, is that I still PMS. ;)

I've seen all phases of the moon, and I think they're all beautiful. When I was a kid, I used to sit out in the backyard and stare at it for hours.
