Does anybody know how to correctly attach the breathing tube to the oxygen tank? They showed us how to open the valve and all that, but I guess they thought this step was foolproof. They were wrong.

If you guys can't help I'll ask google, and if google can't help I guess I can pester my neighbor, who's a nurse, but I hope it doesn't come to that. We're not best friends.

Edit: Got it now, thanks everybody :)

It depends. Some kinds, you have a tapered and ribbed metal fixture on the tank. Just force the plastic tubing onto that. Splices in the tubing are handled by a double-ended version of the same. You may have a flow meter to adjust the supply.

What jhetly said except instead of forcing it directly on, twist and wiggle the tubes while applying steady pressure to keep the tube from splitting. If the plastic tubing is warmed from rolling in your hands a few seconds it stretches on a bit easier also.

Yeah, force is probably the wrong verb. Twist and push. On the other hand, if you split the end of the tube you can cut it back to a fresh end with just about any knife.

That's what I like to call the Dammit Dammit Dammit stage of accomplishing something though. You're 90% the way done, but 100% though with your patience.

No idea if this will help, but she puts the tubing on at about 2:31 -

A short dip (10 - 15 seconds) in very hot water can make the plastic hose nicely pliable and less likely to split. Once it's on, you can pour some ice water over the host to set it.
