Like everybody else, I've been fascinated/horrified about the 13 siblings rescued from California. CPS says that the GoFundMe pages are fake (or at least not to be trusted), and this is the correct donation link. It is run by Riverside University Health System. Certainly, those kids will need a lot of financial help for a while.

Edit: It looks like the local chamber of commerce is ALSO collecting donations. They also are presumably trustworthy.

The two well-fed dogs are going to be rehomed together. I'm glad somebody in this story has a happy ending.

saw on the news that there are offers to adopt the the kids, but someone would have to take all of them, i would think.

There have been probably many, many offers, but these kids (including the adults) are going to need specialized care for a while - possibly indefinitely, if they're been harmed badly enough. Most of those people making offers would do better if they offered to adopt or foster kids with less serious problems.

Such a gruesome story. It is crazy that family and friends had no idea of what was going on. The kids have a long way to go and need a lot of help

i had a neighbor like that, dozens of healthy animals and seven starving kids. in her case it was explainable by mental illness.

quiverfull needs a mention! i have such a suspicious eye for the homeschooling religious families that use the library. there are obvious successes, the doctor's wives (ALL OF THEM), and then there's the ... weird ones who's kids can't read.

This story is so crazy. If it wasn't for my favorite comedian posting it on his Twitter, I never would've known about it. He became fascinated and couldn't tear himself away from it and that's how that's how I started reading up on it. I missed the part about the dogs. At least they have a happy ending in all of this.
