Finnegan's Wake (the song, that is.)

They certainly get to brawling fast, don't they? I get that the row and the ruckus has to start somehow, and that they're all a little into their cups by now, and Biddy sure is a buzzkill... but even so. I wonder if we're missing some important backstory here.

Oh! Not to hijack your topic too much, but on the topic of "persistance," did you catch the latest Buzzfeed article that's been gaining traction yesterday?

Not sure how some people feel about it, and even I'm not really in that wheelhouse, but it's beautifully written regardless.

Haha, I do that song - not only is it fast; it has a marked tendency to accelerate with every verse, especially if people start clapping. Rocky Road to Dublin (https://youtu.be/jxBKgOyMzSc) is another that does that - and Mary Mack (https://youtu.be/R3sOA6yQc4A)! - but worst of all is Johnny McEldo (https://youtu.be/g5fZ3ISaHv0), which I don't try to perform.

Naturally, everybody in Watling Street knew that poor Biddy had fancied Tim ever since school days, and also that Peggy O'Conner had had that belt in the gob coming just about that long. Missus Finnegan must've been just furious about the whole affray - I wonder who she punched while the punching was good?

Excellent links; I love the superhero shadows!

He really did, but I hope that didn't kill him all over again.

Do you know The Sick Note (https://youtu.be/IyqXcHeUg5s)? Mythbusters put that one to the test (https://youtu.be/Vt230Pd1oSo), and it worked as advertised: the 'myth' part was that anyone could survive it.

Well, that depends on how one defines a 'perfectly good' wake. After all, it's called a 'wake' for a reason - even though most don't wake up, it's hardly cricket to just cold-cock any that do, like that guy (https://youtu.be/GU0d8kpybVg) in Monty Python And The Holy Grail.

Tim revives (see how he rises) as the whiskey's bein' whirled around like blazes - seemingly all the food and pipe tobaccy is long gone already, and the fight's pretty near spent. So that wake has run its course already. But Timothy being ALIVE again opens up glorious vistas of a future wake of even greater magnificience.
