Sigh

So I'm reluctant to give Finn too many treats while he's walking around like the silliest evil overlord ever. He doesn't realize he ought to face forward, and so I end up with my hand above his nose, and one way or another, I'm likely to get my fingers nipped.

But after I walked him this evening I saw we had some chewies and thought I might try getting him to sit while I took off his leash. Well, he sat obediently and waited when I asked... but when I reached for his collar he stood up again. Lather, rinse, repeat. We'll call it a work in progress.

How many days until the cone comes off again!? We're on day three already.

He's now on my bed, looking like a pile of laundry. This is also improvement - before we took him to the groomer, he looked like a dust mop, and I couldn't make heads nor tails of him. Literally, was never sure which end was which until he stood up and licked me.

Ahhh, the Radium Girls: yet another legacy of why NJ is one giant garden littered with Superfund sites. I looked up the Wiki entry for the company they worked for and a lot of the restructuring they did in the years afterwards just reads like so many corporations and their attempts to avoid taking responsibility for their own mistakes. It really upset me thinking about it.

Trump being impotent in his threats seems to be a common theme, but nothing most of us New Yorkers (well expatriate in this case) had already expected.

I honestly suspected cloud eggs had been a thing earlier! It seemed so... French in technique to begin with, so appreciate the confirmation!

Awww, that mop puppy.

Oh, absolutely on the cloud eggs! I've been wanting to make one, but still figuring out what for. I'm wondering if I could use it as an improvised crust for a casserole, or maybe a chicken and dumpling soup. Otherwise, it would be not unlike a flavorless souffle, wouldn't it?

It's funny, whenever I do a whip, I never think of frying, but you're absolutely right. Clearly, I have little experience in playing around with French techniques. -_-

That Swedish herding call sounds rather like the one I learnt when I was working with cows. It works!

I wonder - in the autistic parents article, the person named as "Damon Matthew Wise Âû", has he actually made the Âutistic ûnion sign part of his name, or did the story just cite him by a "decorated" form of his name like people sometimes put on Facebook? Either would be fairly unusual. The article links from his name to his website which *doesn't* have the "Âû" sign.

(The Âutistic ûnion Facebook about page explains the sign, which they've apparently trademarked.)

I just noticed that your "Slums of Buenos Aires" link actually links to "How the wrong cat litter took down a nuclear waste repository"
