Laptop keyboard. Some keys (rtfgvb, so you can see they're all in two columns straight down next to each other) occasionally stop working for any period of time from a second to several minutes. Nothing under them or anything, and they stop and start working as a group.

Google is giving me some ideas as to what might be causing this. How much will it cost to fix?

Have you tried an external keyboard to see if it is definitely a hardware issue?

worst to worst, if you have empty usb drives on the laptop you can always attach an external keyboard?

i would just kind of assume any repair on a laptop to be fairly costly.

I'd do the aforementioned USB test first, then move to a vacuum cleaner (soft brush attachment) and compressed air. There could be something rattling 'round in there that's causing those particular keys to freeze up.

However much it costs to get an external USB keyboard.

I just almost had to shell out 790 to fix my laptop (the entire screen was ruined from a drop that also resulted in my broken ankle. YAY!). I can't imagine what it would cost to replace the entire keyboard part, omg. :(
