Registered dog names in NYC
May. 9th, 2017 03:13 pmThere are 9 Rovers and 9 Fidos, and 63 Finns, but only one Moonpie. (Interestingly, there is also a Moops, which is what we sometimes call Moonie when we're being silly.)
Of course, last I checked, some 80% of the dogs in NYC are unlicensed, so who knows if this is totally representative? Maybe people who license their dogs follow different trends from people who don't.

Date: 2017-05-09 08:13 pm (UTC)For that matter, we didn't exactly pick Finn's name either. The girls sentimentally called him "Finn" after another missing toy poodle in our neighborhood. Those other people called him "Cocoa", which is a very popular name, albeit a silly one for a white dog.

Date: 2017-05-10 02:11 pm (UTC)Given all the regulations that NYC seems to love to run rampant with, I'm surprised that so many are unlicensed, TBH. I would have figured rental agreements would have required the animals be licensed and properly given treatment, but I also know enough of the holdouts there to know that that doesn't always happen, just... surprised there's so many!
