The cut had to be quite short, given the matting of his fur. Next time, we'll ask that it's not so short. He can be neat and clean and have an easy-to-maintain style without being totally naked.

Well, we like him like this. Easy to maintain, no mats - and he looks very different. (We still haven't spoken to the odious neighbors....) But we want a tiny bit more fur on him in the future!

What you want is called a "kennel clip", at least when you're discussing poodles. Fairly short, about 1/2" long -- not long enough to mat, but you can tell the dog has fur!

I will make that request next time. This time, our priority and the groomer's was, of course, on simply removing the matted fur.

It's not cold now, though it does get cold in NYC. We have a bunch of sweaters for Moonpie. Back when he had a lot of hair, they fit him just fine. Now that he's been shaved he turns out to actually be a bit smaller than her (making her look like quite a hefty dog for a chihuahua mix!), and he positively swims in her sweaters.

We were already planning Moonpie's summer wardrobe, so we'll just add some clothes for him as well. I'm thinking of dressing them up as Batman and Robin, or maybe Superman and Supergirl. I know there are people who make custom dog costumes if the ones I find online aren't to my liking, or if there's some costume I want that nobody sells off-the-rack, so I just need to save up cash.

Because honestly, why have dogs if you can't dress them up like superheroes?

This makes perfect sense to me! Not like you can dress up most cats, after all... (We're up here an hour north of Boston, and it's been... damp and chilly. With occasional bursts of "LOOK! GLOBAL WARMING!" days. -_- )

Where we are in NYC, our weather alternates wildly between SUPER HOT and SUPER CHILL, throughout most of the year. I mean, the peak HOT and CHILL temperatures vary a bit with the season, but not that much. It seems like it's been this way most of my life, or even all my life, but I don't know if that's true or (crucially) if it was like that before I was born. They say people born in the early 80s and later have never experienced "normal" climate.

Toy poodle. And he did change size! After he got clipped, he shrunk. He's now smaller than Moonpie, and he used to be a tiny bit bigger, even!
